Undergraduate Thesis: Numerical Investigation of a Small Straight Bladed Darrieus Wind Turbine with NACA 0021 Airfoil and Dimple Arrangement
My undergraduate thesis involved 2D computational study of the turbine, to investigate and possibly enhance performance with different dimple arrangements in the airfoil profile. CFD analysis was performed by Ansys Fluent using the sliding mesh technique. The reason for choosing this topic is to utilise the cleanest renewable resource (wind energy) and for the turbine's immense weak wind and standalone application potentials, thus, easily implementable in urban topography. At the end, promising results were derived in the optimum model compared to the baseline model.
Design of a 10 kW Grid-Connected Solar-Wind Hybrid Power Plant for a Local School in Debhata, Satkhira
For this project, I performed resource analysis and design of a grid-connected Solar-Wind hybrid power plant while conforming to the UN-Sustainable Development Goals. The plant is intended for a local school situated in a remote area of Bangladesh. HOMERPro software was utilised for feasibility study.
Development and Testing of a Low Cost Pyrheliometer
This projects was regarding the design and fabrication of a low-cost Pyrheliometer for direct normal solar irradiance measurements with locally available resources. The goal was to devise a novel way to bypass costly sensory devices and reduce the cost to a mere fraction of commercial equipment. The device was successfully calibrated against a commercial-grade equipment.
